This is a story about identity—how we define ourselves and how we are shaped by the people around us. The March sisters, each on their own unique path, explore what it means to grow up, to be a woman, and to navigate the delicate balance between individual ambition and collective identity. In a world that often pushes us to prioritize personal achievement, Little Women reminds us that love, sacrifice, and shared dreams build the strongest foundations.
Growing up is complicated. As children, we rush to become adults, eager to be independent and escape the limitations of youth. But as we get older, we find ourselves longing for the simplicity of childhood, the comfort of family. This production is a celebration of the quiet power of sisterhood and the ways these bonds shape and transform individual journeys. The collective journey of the March family, bound by love and respect, is a reminder of the strength we find in each other, and the power of sisterhood to shape who we are.
My own experiences of sisterhood have deeply shaped who I am – and in directing this production, I’ve come to understand even more how we, as individuals, depend on each other. In the end, Little Women is not just a story of personal ambition; it’s about growing together, navigating life’s challenges and achievements, sorrows and joys, hand in hand. It mirrors the way we rely on our families, our “sisters”, biological and chosen.
In this production, we’ve explored the timelessness of the March sisters' story, not just as a period piece but as a reflection of the universal journey we all face. The struggles and triumphs of these four women transcend time and place, which is why we’ve chosen to tell the story with a modern edge, infusing it with a sense of timelessness that resonates with today’s world.
The attic, a physical representation of imagination, sisterhood, and collective identity, is one that is critical to telling this story. Through the story as the sisters age, the attic becomes less important - and for Jo, an important point of tension.

As we bring this story to life on stage, I invite you to reflect on your own journey and the balance between who you are and who you hope to become. Like the March sisters, we all struggle to define ourselves in a world that constantly demands choice between our personal ambition and our responsibilities to others. However, the story of these sisters is that we can grow, change, and become our true selves - together.
And with that, this production is dedicated to my “sisters”. I love you. I am so proud of the women you are and are becoming. I am grateful to share this life with you.
And to Cat - you’re the fire within me.
